Probably not as the case needs the air to be able to circulate around it a pc runs hot and needs to cool itself with the fans inside of it. And your computer well it s a giant vacuum cleaner. But carpets are really good at trapping dust pet hair and all manner of other things. But ultimately is is completely safe to have your pc on the carpet.

Heck even laying a piece of wood on your floor and placing the pc on the wooden platform will solve this problem although it may not be pretty. There s a science to balancing airflow through.
