Installing Pergo Over Carpet

Pergo floors can be walked on as soon as they re installed. If you re laying pergo over concrete remove all carpet trim and other things covering the sub floor to expose the concrete underneath. Homeowners may not want to go to all the trouble of tearing up carpet and padding. Pergo will not fit under door.

If you have severe allergies stirring up all the dust and dirt that may be settled into the carpet could keep you sneezing for weeks. Since carpet is usually plush and soft your laminate flooring would not have the support it needs to keep the locking system sturdy. You can re install the molding afterward or install a pergo shoe molding that matches the floor. Before laying pergo it s a good idea to smooth out the concrete to make sure that you ve got the flattest surface possible for the new installation.
